Significance
Haoumine A is isolated from the marine ascidian Aplidium haouarianum and shows strong anticancer activity in human colon carcinoma cell lines HT-29. This formal synthesis of haouamine A presents a concise route to Baran’s intermediate, the indenotetrahydropyridine K, using an intramolecular cascade Mizoroki-Heck reaction as a key step.
