Significance

In the presence of benzylamino-pentacarbonyltungsten, base and a catalytic amount of palladium(0) complex, aryl and thienyl halides undergo a carbamoylation reaction affording functionalized N-benzyl amides. The process is compatible with various functional groups and proceeds in high yields.
