Significance
This method affords a simple and highly stereoselective reduction of functionalized alkynes into cis- or trans-alkenes. The stereoselectivity can be easily switched by simply changing the reaction conditions and solvent for the reaction. Heteroaryl and alkyl alkynes can also be reduced using this method.
