Significance
The Lycopodium alkaloids are a diverse family of natural products and have varied biological activities. (-)-Lycoperine A was isolated in 2006 from the club moss Lycopodium hamiltonii and exhibits moderate activity against acetylcholine esterase. The isolation chemists determined the relative stereochemical configuration and the absolute configuration was determined from this synthesis.
