Significance
The authors use an IrIII-SnIV catalyst to activate propargyl alcohols as electrophiles. When coupled with an aromatic ring, substituted indenes can be synthesized in good yields. This method is particularly useful due to the accessibility of the propargyl alcohol starting materials.
