Significance
The authors report on the preparation of various propargylic or allenic organoaluminum reagents via direct insertion of elemental aluminum into propargyl bromides in the presence of lead chloride catalyst under mild conditions. Addition reactions of the in situ generated organoaluminum reagents were demonstrated to be generally high-yielding and highly selective in certain cases.
