Significance
The TEMPO-coated Fe3O4 superparamagnetic nanoparticles 4 were prepared by employing strong metal oxide chelating phosphonates and the click reaction. The oxidation of alcohols was catalyzed by 4 under Minisci as well as Anelli conditions to give the corresponding carbonyl compounds in up to 99% yield and >99% selectivity.
