Significance
This work describes the rhodium-mediated polymerization of bis(diazoketones) with carboxylic acids in the presence of cyclic ethers. The authors found that the solvent is ring-opened and inserted into the polymer backbone in a controlled fashion. The polymerization affords polymers of moderate molecular weights (˜10,000 g/mol) and works with a variety of carboxylic acids.
