Significance
Simple even-numbered π-systems, such as alkenes and alkynes, are attractive coupling partners in the formation of five-membered rings. Following up on their original work (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2006, 128, 14030), the authors report an expanded scope and gain access to cyclopentenones using the reductive cycloaddition strategy.
