Significance
(+)-Grandisine B and D were isolated from the tree Elaeocarpus grandis, located in the Australian rainforest. These indolizine alkaloids display human δ-opioid receptor affinity and as such have gained considerable attention from the synthetic community, resulting in several total syntheses.
