Abstract

Transamidation of thioamides with 2-aminoethanol, followed by cyclodehydrosulfurisation of the resultant N-(β-hydroxyethyl)thioamides, has been utilised for the mild and efficient synthesis of 2-oxazolines. The developed protocol was found to be of general applicability.
