Wachstum und Wachstumsstörung

Zusammenfassung

Eine Wachstumsstörung ist ein häufiges Symptom, das zu einer Vorstellung in der kinderärztlichen Betreuung führt. Dieses Symptom kann durch unterschiedliche Erkrankungen bedingt sein. Die manchmal erforderliche komplexe Diagnostik wird durch eine enge Kooperation von betreuenden Ärzten mit Betreuungs- und Fördereinrichtungen zielführend optimiert. Eine frühzeitige Diagnosestellung bei Vorliegen pathologischer Varianten eines Klein- oder Hochwuchses sowie eine entsprechende Betreuung sind wünschenswert.

Summary

Growth retardation is a common symptom in paediatric practice. This single symptom can be caused by a variety of different disorders. A close cooperation between physicians and medical institutions offers the possibility to optimise diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Overall, early confirmation of diagnosis of short or tall stature as well as the respective accompanying disease is important.
