Significance
A novel series of Binol-derived multidentate Brønsted acid catalysts is described. The catalysts were used for the addition reaction of methyleneaminopyrrolidine to N-Boc imines to afford the corresponding protected α-aminohydrazones in 44-87% yield and up to 75% ee (9 examples, 20 mol% catalyst, r.t.).
