Significance

Reusable titanocene cross-linked polymer catalyst 1 was developed. The catalyst was prepared by suspension-polymerization of styrene and bis(p-vinylbenzylcyclopentadienyl)dichlorotitanocene as cross-linking reagents. Synthetic utility of this polymer catalyst was examined for the coupling reaction of vinylmagnesium bromide and chlorodimethylphenylsilane using a simple batch-flow reactor to give 1,4-disilyl-2-butene (E:Z = 88:12) in 82% yield. Catalyst 1 was reused five times without any loss of stereoselectivity (see scheme for details).
