Heck Reaction of Acrylates with Arenediazonium Tetrafluoroborates

Significance

The Heck reaction of substituted cyclic and acyclic acrylates using arenediazonium tetrafluoroborates as aryl sources is reported. The tendency of α -substituted acrylates to undergo double arylation may be suppressed by using an excess of the olefins. The yields of products appear to be independent of the electronic nature of substituents on the arenedia­zonium tetrafluoroborates, which are more reactive than the corresponding halide and triflate counterparts.
