Significance

A rapid and high-yielding approach, based on the previously perfected double Mizoroki-Heck arylation/Suzuki cross-coupling of vinyl­pinacolboronate assembly of triarylethenes, generates fully π-conjugated (para linkages) hydrocarbon dendrimers. Tuning of the arylene core of the dendrimer at the last step of this convergent synthesis yields a variety of new soluble fluorophores.
