Significance
Alkyl- and aryl trifluoroborates, which are storable crystalline solids, are good substituents for air-sensitive and often unstable organometallic compounds in a number of reactions. Herein, a simple and extremely diverse method of their synthesis is reported. Easily available potassium iodomethylenetrifluoroborate can be easily transformed into a number of derivatives, which in turn may serve as nucleophiles in new C-C bond forming reactions.
