Significance
The allylation of carbonyl compounds leading to the corresponding homoallylic alcohols is a widely used synthetic transformation. This work describes an interesting example of palladium catalysis for this process. For electron-poor substituted benzaldehydes, substrate-to-catalyst ratios of up to 20000 can be achieved with the present catalytic system. This catalyst is easy to prepare and can be stored in air without special precautions.
