Significance
The asymmetric allylboration of imines is a straightforward method for the synthesis of chiral amines. Such methods are of great importance for the synthesis of natural products and various biologically active compounds. This is one of the first reports of the asymmetric allylboration of cyclic imines. The method is an interesting variation of a reagent-controlled enantioselective reaction, using a novel, recoverable BINOL-derived chiral auxiliary. Some applications for natural product synthesis are reported.
