Significance
The copper(II)-based catalyst described successfully overcomes difficulties regarding regioselectivity of hydroxyamination of olefins in previous reports. Moreover, it is shown here that by using N-sulfonyl oxaziridines with 10 mol% of Cu(II)-salts production of styrene oxides as byproducts is reduced to trace quantities. Efficiency of the reaction is demonstrated by a wide substrate scope with comparable reactivity.
