Significance
Direct synthesis of isomeric ketones under Friedel-Crafts acylation conditions can easily be challenging. Thus, the reaction of organometallic reagents with acyl chlorides often is a better alternative. Arylbismuth compounds can be readily prepared via standard procedures, they are stable and easy to handle. The described acylation reaction offers a simple, atom-efficient synthetic way to various functionalized aryl ketones.
