Significance

The target molecule activates the calcium-sensing receptor in the same way as extracellular Ca²⁺ and therefore has potential for the treatment of primary and secondary hyperparathyroidism. The key step in this synthesis is the highly diastereoselective addition of MeMgBr to the 2-propanesulfinimine D.
