Significance
The authors report a simple procedure for the synthesis of hyperbranched poly(fluorenevinylene)s that show promising photophysical properties. The monomer, which contains three sites for polymer growth, is subjected to the standard conditions for the Gilch polymerization. At the end of the reaction, the polymers are end-capped with benzyl bromine, which is important for improved emission properties.
