Significance
Lepadins show selective activity against malaria-causing plasmodia and trypanosomes (main pathogens of sleeping sickness). The first enantioselective syntheses of lepadin F and lepadin G are reported here utilizing a tandem ene-yne-ene ring-closing metathesis to form the hexahydroquinoline D. Completion of the synthesis revealed that the products were the enantiomers of lepadin F and lepadin G.
