Significance

G2270A is a thiopeptide antibiotic isolated from Planobispora rosea that inhibits bacterial elongation factor Tu, an ubiquitous essential enzyme for protein biosynthesis. A markworthy feature is the use of three Pd(0)-catalyzed coupling reactions to apend three thiazole rings to 2,6-dibromo-3-iodopyridine.
