Significance

Reported is an edge-directed synthesis of polyimines as nanometer-sized molecular cubes. Cube 3 was obtained in 90% yield via a TFA-catalyzed reaction between 8 equivalents of (P)-1 as the tritopic 90˚ corner units and 12 equivalents of diamine 2 as linear spacers. The cube structures were verified by NMR, MALDI-TOF MS, GPC and DOSY.
