Zusammenfassung

Die normale Pupillenfunktion erfordert nicht nur die Intaktheit der Struktur und Funktion des Pupillensystems, sondern ist auch dem vegetativen Status und pharmakologischen Einflüssen unterworfen. Die damit einhergehende Befundvariabilität erschwert die Aufdeckung von Störungen der Pupillenfunktion. Deshalb ist systematisches Vorgehen bei der Untersuchung der Pupillenfunktion erforderlich, um zwischen den verschiedenen Pupillenstörungen und Normalbefunden differenzieren zu können. Alle typischen Pupillenstörungen des Erwachsenenalters treten auch im Kindes- und Jugendalter auf. Insbesondere im frühen Kindesalter kann der Pupillenbe-fund jedoch durch kongenitale oder früh erworbene Anomalien modifiziert werden, deren Morphologie und Ursache eine ophthalmologische Abklärung erfordern.

Summary

The normal pupillary function requires not only the integrity of the structure and function of the pupillary system, but is also subjected to the vegetative status and pharmacological influences. The variability of pupillary findings caused by this interaction complicates the diagnosis of disturbances of pupillary function. Therefore, a systematic approach to the examination of the pupils is necessary in order to differentiate between the different pupillary disorders and normal pupillary function. All typical pupillary disorders of adulthood also appear in childhood and adolescence. Nevertheless, in particular in the early infancy the pupillary findings can be modified by congenital or acquired structural abnormalities which require a thorough ophthalmological examination.
