Significance

Conversion of aryl halides into carbonyl compounds can be made in an atom-economic way by using carbon monoxide. This convenient procedure allows the preparation of a large variety of substituted benzoates and benz­amides as well as their heterocyclic analogues, bearing important functional groups.
