Significance

Reported are acid-mediated conditions for the formation of highly substituted 1,2,4-triazoles from the reaction of S-methylisothioureas with acyl hydrazides. The starting thioureas were synthesized in excellent yield through sequential reaction of di-2-pyridyl-thiocarbonate with primary amines.
