Significance
This is the first report of the use of enol phosphinates as electrophiles in cross-coupling reactions. The authors present an interesting alternative to the conventional chemistry of enol triflates and phosphates, which are often not sufficiently stable. The Suzuki and Stille reactions proceed fairly well with these new electrophiles, giving reasonable yields of products.
