Significance

An efficient way to obtain functionalized perylenes starting with 4,9-diamino­perylene-quinone-3,10-diimine (DPDI) and 3,4,9,10-tetraminoperylene (TAP) is presented. Several high-yielding reactions lead to perylene units with periferic moieties. These reactions can be used for an easy incorporation of perylenes in more complicated molecules.
