Significance

A resin-immobilized CuO nanocomposite was prepared by the treatment of a cationic exchange resin (SERALITE-SRC-120) with CuSO4, followed by the reduction with an alkaline solution of cyclodextrin. The CuO nanocomposite catalyzed the aerobic oxidation of neat primary alcohols under refluxing conditions to give the corresponding aldehydes in up to 95% yield (9 examples).
