Significance
The authors have developed the atom-economical, mixed aluminum reagents AlArEt2(THF) for the arylation to both aldehydes and ketones. The resulting secondary and tertiary alcohols were obtained in high yields and enantioselectivities. In addition, the aluminum reagents were easily prepared from the reactions of either AlEt2Br(THF) with ArMgBr or AlAr3(THF) with AlEt3(THF).
