Significance
Chiral hydroxamic acid ligands are known to be efficient for vanadium-catalyzed asymmetric epoxidation of allylic alcohols. The authors developed water-soluble chiral hydroxamic acid ligands by incorporating a sulfonamide moiety to enhance the water solubility. Various allylic alcohol substrates can be epoxidized in water with high yields and enantioselectivities.
