Significance
A highly selective meta arylation of aromatic C-H bonds catalyzed by copper triflate is described. A number of substituted N-pivaloylanilines react with diaryliodonium triflates or tetra-fluoroborates affording meta-substituted biaryls in very good to excellent yields.
