Significance
Alkyl propiolate addition to aromatic aldehydes is a well-studied field but aliphatic aldehydes remain challenging. In this report, H8BINOL and titanium tetraisopropoxide are combined to catalyze the highly enantioselective propiolate addition to aliphatic aldehydes.
