Significance

Haoumine A is isolated from the marine ascidian Aplidium haouarianum and shows strong anticancer activity in human colon carci­noma cell lines HT-29. This formal synthesis of ­haouamine A presents a concise route to Baran’s intermediate, the indenotetrahydropyridine K, ­using an intramolecular cascade Mizoroki-Heck reaction as a key step.
