Significance

1-Aryl-substituted 1,3-butadienes and unsymmetrical α,ω-dienes were successfully subjected to a Co-catalyzed 1,4-hydrovinylation reaction. The resulting dienes, trienes or tetraenes are interesting substrates for further transformations and could be used in regioselective alkene metathesis, hydroformylation and hydroboration reactions.
