Significance
The stereoselective 1,2-dicyanation of various alkynes under aerobic conditions was achieved with palladium(II) catalysis. High yields (>80%) of 1,2-dicyanated products were observed with terminal alkynes, whereas substrates with internal alkynes afforded only moderate yields. syn-Adducts were found to be the major products in most cases, with syn/anti product ratios of 3:1 on average.
