Aerobic Oxidation of Alcohols with Gold Nanoparticles Supported on Cs2CO3

Significance
NaAuCl4 catalyzed the aerobic oxidation of alcohols in the presence of Cs2CO3 at room temperature to afford the corresponding aldehydes and ketones in up to >99% yield (17 examples). In the aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohol, the catalyst was recovered by simple filtration and reused three times without loss of catalytic activity (1st reuse: >99%, 2nd reuse: 98%, 3rd reuse: 98%).
