Significance
In this work the authors demonstrate that the presence of a silyl substituent on the allenyl moiety directs initial regio- and stereoselective allene epoxidation and subsequently dictates the regioselectivity of the ring-opened products. Further, the authors demonstrate the potential of this approach to the concise synthesis of the natural product epi-citreodiol.
