Significance
(+)-Angelichalcone was isolated from Angelica keiskei, a herb used in traditional Japanese medicine. This is the first total synthesis of the target. Other related geranylated chalcones, with the same aromatic substitution but various oxidation states along the geranyl chain, have also been isolated.
