Significance
An operationally simple and efficient method for the construction of C(sp)-C(sp³) bonds from terminal alkynes and alkylzinc reagents via palladium-catalyzed oxidative coupling is disclosed. Air is used as the sole oxidant for this reaction, and the addition of carbon monoxide (1:10 by volume) has been found to increase the yield of the internal alkyne.
