Significance
A new type of tert-butanesulfinylphosphine ligands is successfully synthesized and applied to the rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric 1,4-addition of arylboronic acids to cyclic or acyclic unsaturated ketones. Excellent yield and good enantioselectivity are observed under mild conditions. The stereochemical outcome of this reaction is also discussed.
