Significance

A nickel-catalyzed arlyative ring opening of 3-methylenecycloalkane-1,1-dicarboxylates has been developed. The reaction proceeds via nickel(0)-catalyzed Csp³-Csp³ bond cleavage and subsequent coupling of the resulting π-allyl N-complex with arylzinc reagents.
