Significance

The Ni(cod)₂/Cy₃P catalyst system enables the catalytic stereoselective 1,4-diborylation of conjugated dienes with bis(pinacolato)diboron. The reaction proceeds efficiently at low catalyst loadings of 2.5 mol%.
