Significance

Lactonamycin was isolated in 1996 by Matsumoto from a culture broth of Strepto­myces rishiriensis MJ773-88K4. It has shown anti­tumor properties as well as antimicrobial ­activity against Staphylococcus (MRSA) and ­Enterococcus (VRE).
