Significance
Metal-DNA nanohybrids (M-DNA: M = Pd, Au, Ag, and Pt) were prepared by treatment of fish sperm DNA with the metal salts followed by reduction with NaBH4 (eq. 1). Pd-DNA catalyzed the hydrogenation of nitrobenzenes in Tris buffer to give the corresponding anilines in 80-99% yield (10 examples, eq. 2). Au-DNA was effective for the oxidation of secondary alcohols with oxygen to afford the corresponding ketones in 60 to >99% yield (9 examples, eq. 3).
