Significance
A solid-phase approach for the synthesis of polyamidoamines was developed. Fmoc-polyamino acid building blocks 7-10 were prepared by selective protection of oligoethylenimines, followed by introduction of a carboxylic acid using cyclic anhydrides and subsequent Fmoc protection. The Fmoc-polyamino acids led to the corresponding polyamidoamines 11-16 via Fmoc solid-phase peptide synthesis.
