Significance
Efficient synthesis of alkenes with high E/Z-selectivity is a very important yet difficult problem for organic synthesis. In this paper, a very interesting direct stereoselective cross-coupling reaction of two diazo compounds is introduced with a dirhodium tetrakis pivaloate catalyst. In many cases the reaction gave greater than 20:1 E-stereoselectivity.
